The catering solution projects we like best are those we are involved with from the start to the finish and that was the case when we refurbished the commercial kitchen at The Court House, Great Bromley, Essex.

Richard and Dan, who run the Wooden Fender in Ardleigh, were brought in by the Fenders Proprietors to bring their new asset, The Court House, up to the same high standard as their other premises, in order to provide the same quality of food and dining experience.

The problem was that the kitchen was short of space and the facilities were tired.

The owners had heard of Marigold Engineers Limited’s excellent reputation as Commercial Kitchen designers, suppliers and installers in Colchester, Suffolk, London and surrounding areas.

They approached us and asked us to redesign and carry out the complete refurbishment of The Court House kitchen. The pressure was increased when we were informed that we had a three month deadline to carry out the work at The Court House to have it ready to reopen its doors in time for the start of the summer season.

Brian Marigold, founder of Marigold Engineers Limited used his experience of more than 30 years in the hospitality industry to design a smooth running layout.

The project included:
. White Rock wall cladding
. Altro flooring
. Electrical wiring upgrades and testing
. Gas Pipework
. Gas interlock
. Extraction canopy
. Plumbing
. New equipment
. Rational combination ovens
. Solid top / oven
. Fryers
. Chargrills
. Stainless steel fabrication
. Walk-in cold Room
. Walk-in Freezers
. Display counters.
. Counter fridges.

Our highly experienced team started transforming the kitchen by taking down the walls of two bedroom to make extra space. The remaining walls were then made good with cladding and flooring was laid.

The kitchen was redesigned to streamline the workflow and improve the layout of the catering equipment for the chef, so that food could be taken swiftly to the diners as soon it was cooked and dished out.

This meant that new water and gas pipes had to be installed and the electrical wiring was upgraded. Everything was tested to ensure it met national safety standards.

Most commercial kitchens are used daily and put under intense pressure, so we selected top quality brands that would stand the test of time for the Ardleigh Chain. As we work regularly with the UK’s top commercial kitchen equipment manufacturers, we were able to negotiate reduced prices for the clients.

The new equipment included:
Blue Seal United Kingdom ovens and fryers and chargrill
Rational combination ovens
Stainless steel bespoke tables and sinks.

A bespoke walk-in cold room and a bespoke walk-in freezer by Foster Refrigeration were built to meet our clients’ needs.

Brian said, “The project ran as smoothly as we could have hoped for, although there were lots of delays due to suppliers delivering goods late, especially equipment. Thankfully we were able to get everything delivered on time and were still able to meet the opening deadline. Our clients added some extra ‘last minute’ orders for additional equipment, and I am pleased to say we were able to fulfil their requests and keep within the original timeframe.”

Before the official opening to the public, the owners put on a few events and invited friends and family of the staff and also all the contractors that had worked on the revamp.

Brian added, “We were delighted to have been invited to the pre-opening event, and I can honestly say that the food quality is as good as the Wooden Fender and the service and team are just as friendly and professional. I would recommend the venue to anyone!”

The refurbishment work was carried out on target, so The Court House reopened its doors to customers on Monday April 25th in time for the start of the summer season.
